Attitude of Anger II

Many times we have heard people say the same negative thing over and over again and when we try to encourage them, they will say, “yeah but…” they are saying yes I hear you, but I will stay with the same attitude and mindset that I have. Many times, we are not looking to change our circumstances; we only want to continue to express them. Sometimes we want to keep talking about how bad life is, not realizing we have the power to change it with our positive words.

A lot of us do not realize we can change our circumstances by changing our attitude and we change our attitude by changing what we say. The words we say will change our attitude by changing the things our heart ponders and mind considers. The Bible says as a man thinketh (continues to think) so is he, so if we change what we continuously say and think about others or ourselves we will change our thoughts, how we view them and our expectations. What we believe we can accomplish, we will. A positive person believes he can therefore he does. A negative person believes he cannot therefore he does not.

Proverbs 23:7a           For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…

The main point of us having a “will” is that we have a choice. We always have a choice to decide what we will contemplate and what we will say. However, we do not have the choice of the consequences of our decisions. There are natural and spiritual laws that we set in motion once we make our choice. Just as Adam and Eve had a choice to eat or not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil but they had no choice in the consequences or the results of their action. These choices not only affected them but every one of their children and every person that lived after them. No one is an island and no life is private, our choices will affect the people around us.

Jesus came and implemented a greater law, Grace. The life, death and resurrection of Jesus paid all sin debts so that whosoever accepts Jesus as Lord shall be saved and have eternal life. This is the Grace of God toward mankind. God did not leave us in our fallen state; He made provisions for us to be reinstated into the family of God before we were created and before we fell into sin.


We maybe in a certain mind set, it could be anger, depression or hate and we may not know why or how we got into that attitude, sometimes it is the company we keep. God tells us to guard the company we keep. An angry people stirs up conflict and will drag everyone who stays around them into their argument. This is why the Bible tells us to be careful when we associate with people who are easily angered because we will begin acting like them and find ourselves in trouble.

Bad company can corrupt good people. We have seen people with pleasant attitudes and they change after being around negative, angry people too long. They begin to say mean things and do unkind things to people. The same things they saw the cruel people do they do to others.

We are to think on good and positive things. We are not to linger on those negative things. This is how we are to keep our mind and attitude right. What is right, pure and of a good report, think on these things. We are told to choose life, to choose to let positive things occupy our mind. We all have seen what happens when we let negativity, hatred and anger smolder and it will combust into flames of destruction. It will only cause death and devastation.

What we do and the choices we make will not only set a course for our lives but it will set the course for our children and their children. Unless a greater law is implemented, such as the saving grace of God and the love of God over our lives, we will remain the same. What we do and say does matter because it has a rippling effect and it will impact everyone it touches.

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Attitude of Anger I

Our attitude can determine our companionship, friendships and the positions we acquire. It can even impact our health and wellbeing. Many of us think we are stuck with the attitude we have. We think it will always stay the same whether it is good or bad because we do not understand how we can change our attitude. What we believe and think is the product of what we have been taught and told by others.

We are taught to hate to ponder hurtful things in our minds and to speak them over and over again. The Bible says the tongue is a pen of a ready writer and the tongue is writing things we say deep into our mind, heart, and spirit. This is why we guard the words we speak and hear and those of our children, to protect our hearts and minds.

God says death and life is in the power of the tongue and we will eat the fruit of our lips. When we understand this spiritual principle, we will understand how important it is to guard what we say and what we hear. We need to guard what we say, how we respond to what others say to us and about us. Many of us think words are nothing, only words and they cannot do any harm.  God says words are powerful, this world was made by words and all that is in it is sustained by the power of words.

This world system goes to great lengths to get words into our minds and hearts through songs, movies, and now social media. The enemy knows if the seed of a word or thought is planted in our spirit and that word is nurtured, it will in time grow and the seed of that thought will take root in our heart. This is why we are told to guard our hearts.

When what is planted in our hearts will be spoken from our mouths, unless we intentionally uproot the seeds of those thoughts with the word of God. All seeds reproduce after its own kind. Therefore, those negative thoughts and words we hear and believed are reproduced in our lives.  We all have heard stories that started as a lie but when it is said often enough and long enough people’s minds will begin to believe that lie.

This is a spiritual principle that is just as consistent as the principle of gravity. Gravity pulls things to the earth unless a higher principle or power is enacted, such as the principles of lift that are used in flight. Our spoken words are powerful and will have consequences unless we apply a greater law, which is the Word of God.

What we continue to listen to will become rooted in our hearts. What is in our hearts will eventually be spoken from our mouth. If we start speaking negative things we have heard or seen, we will be sending powerful seed bearing words out to create in our future, after its own kind, the negative things we have said. Whether good or bad, seed produces after its own kind.

God used words to create the universe and He used the concept of seed bearing after its own kind for good so that every good thing that He created will continue to regenerate. The enemy knows God’s word and he seeks to pervert the good God has made. Instead of using our words for good, systems are in placed to have us hear and speak negative things so the results would be harmful. Satan has no power or authority over the believer so he tries to get the believer to speak against himself, his life, and his future.

Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

The Bible has many examples of faith exhibited by the words people spoke. We see the power of the spoken word and understand it has the ability to create, and by faith these words impact our future. The words we say can change our attitude and if we speak the right words, lining up with God’s words, our attitude will change our perspective. Words can change the feelings we have toward a situation, the way we feel about our future and ourselves.

Our attitude or mindset towards certain people, situations, or things can be changed by what we say and what we choose to let enter our hearts and minds, the things we ponder. We can choose to speak positive things, to think on things that are pure, just, and of a good report. We can choose to listen to the words of hate, anger, and bitterness against people, a race, or culture. This negativity and hate can even be against ourselves if we allow others to influence our thinking, attitude and behavior toward ourselves.



With the acts of violence and killing that are so prevalent in the world it is important that we see this matter from a spiritual view. We have heard many speak both publicly and privately on senseless killing as it relates to race, culture even economics it appears; now it is essential that we express a Biblical view.  Let us pray God will open our eyes to the truth and to the real battle.

Let us not go on another rage of the how the rich keep getting richer and how the poor are being crushed by the greed of ruthless men and the plight of how minorities are being mistreated. All these things are true and we have heard many conversations about race and prejudice. We have also heard of killings and men destroying other men all because they have little or no respect for life. We have heard repeatedly questions as to why God let this happen and some even think God did this. We have seen over time the cold and calloused ways of those who are in power use their financial or social standing to come against those who have no power, no voice in society. This is mostly done in the name of “self-preservation,” for people to keep their lifestyle, status and the wealth to which they have become accustomed.

With all the things that are going on in this country and the world, it should make us want to stop and evaluate how we got to a place where there is so much greed and so little compassion or respect for human life or for our fellow man.

It appears nations, societies and all the different cultures in the world are moving so fast that we have not stopped to think of the consequences of our actions. The world systems are making assumptions and coming to conclusions that are based on the net worth or the financial advantage of people or their position. Decisions are being made in ignorance or without respect to what is important or its impact. There is a lack of knowledge of our true purpose or a real respect for God.

People are afraid of losing temporary possessions of this world and it leads men to act in extreme ways of justifying the means they use to obtain their wealth. We are living ignorant to the fact the things we value are only temporal and they will soon be destroyed. We are so blind that we do not see our created purpose for life in this world. We fail to see that power, possession, money and things are only temporary. The souls of all humanity are eternal, everlasting with a great purpose. Man was created by God so the glory of God will be displayed by man while living on the earth.

Times are rapidly changing, with the instant transmission of hostile acts and events through news and social media, it appears to create or heighten a sense of fear and cultivate distrust among people. Misinformation is given instantly and it appears to be without a thorough investigation of the facts. We see on the spot commentaries by people giving personal opinions and interjecting feelings and even false statements, creating an atmosphere of terror and suspicion. It seems as though the media has resorted to sensational, dramatic reporting of feelings, of schools of thought that feed into biases, prejudice, hatred and fear.

We understand one man’s opinion is just that, an opinion, but we should rest our statements on the truth of God’s Word. For those who believe in the infallible Word of God as being truth let us take our stand on that. Those who do not believe in the unfailing, reliable Word of God, they must trust, in their limited knowledge. Many have a sense of justice that comes from their life experiences and culture. Our communities’ perceptions of justice are shaped by personal experience in life and life, as we know it, is based on the culture where we were raised. All of these are as unstable as water. Thank God, for His Word that is living and true.

 Genesis 1:26-28 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”


Genesis 9:4-6 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being. “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.”

2 Corinthians 4:4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. NLT


I John 2:11But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. ESV


Those who believe in God’s infallible Word understand that we have a created purpose and value endowed by our Creator. The problems mankind currently faces in the earth are spoken of in God’s word.  God created us in His image for His Glory and for His purpose. The fact that God created us in His image and likeness gives value to all humanity and God notes this value by requiring a reconciling by anyone or anything that sheds the blood of man.


Genesis 9:6 Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.

We must understand the Battle! As children of God we are in a battle not against Satan but for our mind, the way we think and respond to life’s challenges. Satan wanted to take over heaven but in that battle the angels defeated him and he was thrown out of heaven with a third of the fallen angels who were deceived by him. Satan cannot defeat God so he goes after those who are important to God, mankind the ones created in God’s image.

God gives us many examples of how to live, in the Old Testament, how He made us in His image and He made us male and female. God made us to be like Him in the earth, to represent Him in the earth so that the Glory of God that is in heaven, will be seen in the earth. God, Elohim-Creator created the earth He took every day preparing the world for mankind. To ensure everything man would ever need to be blessed, prosperous and to have dominion over all, He had the earth ready and waiting for mankind. God planted a garden with trees that were pleasant to the sight, good for food, rivers of waters, there were gold and gem-stones all for man to enjoy and to live lavishly. God gave man work with purpose to dress the garden, name the animals, multiply and replenish the earth, subdue it, and have dominion.

God gave mankind one command, of every tree of the garden he may freely eat but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he shall not eat, for the day he eats he will surely die. We were created in God’s image, and were given a will, that is an ability to choose, so we may decide for ourselves our own actions. To make us without the ability of choice would have made us like a robot, or a machine, something that would be fashioned in the image of God but would not have any authority. To have a choice there must be more than one option. God gave mankind every tree of the garden to eat but of the one tree of knowledge of good and evil, He commanded them not to eat. We always have a choice, to believe God’s word or to believe our feelings, life circumstances or lies of our adversary. Mankind disobeyed God and ate of the tree they were commanded not to eat and that was when the spirit of man died. The creature God had created did die that day, his God spirit was no longer one with God, and they became a fallen man and corrupted by sin.

When God created man He blessed man and provided for all man’s needs, He had given man food and water for satisfying the flesh, beautiful trees, gold and gems that were pleasant to the sight. God had made man in His image; he was the highest of His creations, cherished with superiority, he was given dominion over all the earth. Satan was a wicked foe, who is extremely cruel, profoundly evil and immoral, who comes to kill, steal and destroy mankind, the one God loved but Jesus came and defeated him. Satan lost the battle in the heavens and then again Jesus at the Cross of Calvary, conquered him on earth. Jesus took back all the authority the first Adam had surrendered in the Garden of Eden.

It is an evil and diabolical person who seeks to destroy someone’s family when they are unable to defeat their foe. That is the enemy, he wants to pervert (to lead astray, to turn away from the right course) or destroy us from our original purpose. Satan is a defeated foe and he cannot destroy the children of God but he does try to cause them to doubt God and His word, to deceive God’s people and to get them to harm and destroy themselves. Satan could not take the blessing God gave mankind, to have dominion over the earth, so he tricked mankind into giving up their authority to him. Through subtle, cunning and crafty ways, our adversary is still trying to use the same tricks, lies and doubt, “you won’t surely die” …

Satan always tries to attack God’s Word, to distort or misrepresent the meaning of God’s Word to cause doubt in us. God’s people are ignorant to what God’s word really says and what authority we have, so the enemy will try to have God’s people questioning the word of God, the love of God and God Himself.

Just as Eve added to God’s words, we will want to add things to God’s word. Eve said, God told them not to touch the tree or they would die, that is not what God had said.  When we start reasoning with the enemy and adding on to what God has said we open an opportunity for him to create even more doubt. God did not say anything about touching the tree.

The enemy tried to attack God’s character, implying God was lying to them, they would not surly die and God was not being totally truthful. He is still trying to attack God’s concern for us and will lie about God’s love for us, lying and telling us God does want us to have fun. We were created like God, He made us to have dominion and reign in this earth. God was not holding anything back from us. God created this world and all that is in it for us to enjoy.

Satan came with the enticement of pride, the lifting of one’s self up to be wiser than God. Everything that he was tempting Eve with the things God had already provided for Adam and Eve. God had given them things pleasant to the eye, good to eat and created them in His image, they did not have to eat the fruit to be like God, He had made them to be like God.

Adam and Eve began listening to Satan, and then they began questioning the word of God and they fell for his lie. They obeyed Satan rather than God thus giving Satan dominion over humanity and all they were given. The earth came under a curse and man became slaves to sin but Jesus restored God’s kingdom back to mankind.

Romans6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death or of obedience unto righteousness?


It is important for us to go to the beginning to understand where we are, how the battle lines are drawn and how to fight the good fight of faith. We are told to fight the good fight of faith not to fight Satan. He is a defeated foe and all power and authority was given back to Jesus as the Risen Lord, King over the Kingdom of God and those who trust in Him.

The enemy tries to keep us in darkness and blind to the fact that we are victorious in Christ. He tries to deceive us into believing that we are powerless against him. That too is his tactic to keep us ignorant of God’s provision of us being more than conquerors to keep us from receiving what God has already provided. Satan wants to keep us blind to who we are and what we have in Christ. God has given us the Light of His Glorious Gospel, Jesus is Lord and we are more than conquerors in Him.

Our adversary is still using the same weapons of warfare, the lust of the eye (the desire to have more stuff), the lust of the flesh (the satisfy the appetites, food, drink, sex at any cost), and the pride of life (the need to be right, to be first, on top and in control even at the expense of others). It does not matter if we live in a rich society with advance technology or if we live in the wilderness in undeveloped counties, the enemy is looking for an opportunity to deceive. We understand the word “may” is used to express the obtaining of permission or opportunity to engage or get involved. Jesus has defeated Satan and restored our authority and dominion over the earth in His kingdom. The enemy can only have access to us if we give him permission or opportunity by our actions and our choices.

We are told to fight the good fight of faith, which believes what God says. The fight is in the mind of the believer to trust God and not listen to the lies of this world, society. We are to believe God and trust in God. Faith believes in the word, grace and mercy of God and expect to receive all God has promised. Faith says what God says about a matter and it keeps speaking and saying the words of God until it receives what God has promised.

The enemy wants to have us chasing shadows and believing lies to keep us in fear and doubt because this is what hinders our faith. When God’s people are ignorant to the word of God and all He has provided in the Kingdom of God on earth, the enemy can speak lies and they will not have the truth of God’s word to take authority over the lies and deceptions. We must know the principles of God’s kingdom and how to operate in the authority of the Kingdom of God for us to be victorious on this earth.

As in any military battle, it is imperative to know your battle plans, strategies and to know where and how the battle will be fought. If our enemy can keep us in darkness and we do not have the knowledge or information we need to operate in our authority then he can keep us from being conquerors. Though we have all we need to win and be victorious we fail because we do not have the knowledge of how to operate in our kingdom authority, most have not read their constitution, their bylaws, what they have as kingdom citizens, that is the Bible.

If the enemy can keep God’s people blind to the authority they have, question if there is a spiritual warfare and then question God’s love and faithfulness, then they have tricked the people just as Adam and Eve were tricked. That is a strategic battle plan, to keep the people blind to what is going on around them. To have humanity focused on culture, property, prestige and the pride of life, those things that will not last. Then to have them ignorant to the truth and things that are of value and worth, the souls and welfare of men who are created in God’s image and will last for eternity.

We should be crying out to God for the souls of the people who have been deceived and for their children and their children’s children. They too will spend eternity in hell unless their eyes are opened to the light of God’s love for all mankind. As long as a man is living on this earth, he has a chance to be saved no matter how evil they may be. Someone may cry out and intercede to God the Father for them. We should ask God to forgive those who have wronged us because they do not know what they are doing. We should choose to forgive and pray for their soul that their soul will live for eternity in heaven and not in hell. As ambassadors of Christ we may be the one person interceding for this soul and this could impact their life for eternity. To show the love of Christ in a hostile situation can be a seed sown to cause someone to seek God.

We all have a choice, to pray to God to help and save persons who may have even killed people out of hate, all because they have listened and believed the lies the world and the enemy has put in their minds. We should pray for these souls and ask that they not be lost for all eternity. We should pray for their children and their heirs to be set free of the bondage to hatred.

We should pray as Jesus prayed, Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing or who they are persecuting. They do not recognize that they are attacking a child of the Most High King. We can stand on the word of God and forgive or believe the lie the enemy feeds the world to cause us to not forgive. Our culture has taught us through life experiences to stand for our pride and value it as being worth more than a man’s soul.

A soul has no color and in God’s eyes we are all created in His image with an eternal spirit and soul. The adversary does not care how he destroys mankind, whether it is with hate of a race of people as the oppressor or the oppressed. It does not matter how he tricks us to end in hell as long as he can divert our hearts and minds to question God and hate one another. The enemy will try to destroy God’s people with self-hate or with hate against one another. He comes to kill, steal and destroy our purpose on earth, which is to bring Glory to God, but it is our choice to allow him.

Jesus took on all our sins and none of us were able to pay this debt but Christ died for us and asked God to forgive us. This is why forgiveness is such an important act to God.   We are looking like our Heavenly Father and revealing His glory in the earth when we walk in forgiveness and say as Jesus said “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.”

It is by the love that we have for one another that shows we are of God. Our good fight of faith is fighting to believe what God says about us. We do not fight Satan he is a defeated foe and we do not fight one another. We are not to allow what this world, society, or even what our culture says defines us. We are children of the Most High King! The Apple of His eye!

Luke 6:32-36 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.


The good fight of faith believes God is faithful to His word and He has already provided all we need to be victorious and we must also operate according to His principles to receive what God has already provided. We can trust God’s faithfulness He has already provided Jesus all we will ever need to be conquerors over our situation and to live victorious. We are responsible for knowing the authority we have and how to operate in it according to His word and to love one another as He has loved us. Love is a simple command but takes the power of the Holy Spirit to do.

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.


I was contemplating the subject, attitude, and trying to decide if it was truly worth taking the time to look at and discuss. Well after going to a midweek service with a guest speaker from Haiti speaking on the attitude of honoring those who are due honor, needless to say there was confirmation that the subject was worth discussing. I also recognized some areas that I need to, let’s say, tweak! That I will get into more on the next blog.

Our attitude is an important part of who we are. It speaks to the type of person we are, it reflects what is going on inside and it can sets a certain atmosphere around us. We have heard it said, “He has a negative attitude” and people don’t want to be in the presence of a negative person very long. We have seen one person’s attitude set the mood of a meeting, a work environment, and even family relationships.

Whether they are positive or negative, they can influence the people and circumstances around us. Many times, our attitude is shaped by our life experiences. You can tell those people who have seen hard times. They appear to be stuck in a certain mind-set and they go on for so long that they don’t know how to come out. defines attitude as: manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., with regard to a person or thing: a tendency or orientation, especially of the mind: a negative attitude; group attitude; positive attitude. Attitude can be displayed in a position or posture of the body appropriate to or expressive of an action, emotion, feeling… such as a threatening attitude; a relaxed attitude.

So attitude is an expression of feelings, disposition, tendency or orientation of the mind is a type of action. It can be the manner one speaks, the posture of the body, an action that communicates a thought or belief. This can be done very subtle or very expressive and deliberate.


Maybe we can see how attitude can help or hurt in life, on our jobs, families and in our communities. Attitude has been attributed as being a determining factor on high a person can climb “the corporate ladder” or the positions a person may or may not obtain because of it. You may have heard the saying “attitude determines altitude,” the way you think and act will have a direct bearing on the positions you may attain.

Why the topic of attitude? It is one thing that can totally impact our lives, our happiness and even our eternity. I believe it is important to understand our attitude, how it was developed and how can it be changed for the better. With this food for thought let’s meditate on attitude and next time lets comment on how attitude affects people and how we can change our attitude.

The Kingdom of God suffers violence

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.      Looking at these words in the Greek that are in this verse it comes out a little clearer.  These words according to the original meaning in the Greek, makes a difference in the meanings of these words as we know them and the way they are used today.

Suffer= to send forth, to be intensive, to bear

Violence= power, mighty works, miraculous power, strength

Violent = the forcer, to seize, power to influence, ruler of a realm, to affect

Force = seize, take, catch away

So let us write this verse according to the Greek meanings.

From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven (sends forth, bears, intensive) (power, mighty works, miraculous power, strength) and (the forcer, one that seizes, the one with power to influence, the ruler of a realm) takes it (the kingdom of heaven) by force (seizes, takes, and catches away)…

So we are to take back what the enemy has stolen by being the enforcer, rulers of our realm, using mighty miraculous power to take it, seize it catch it away!!!  Hallelujah!
