Our attitude can determine our companionship, friendships and the positions we acquire. It can even impact our health and wellbeing. Many of us think we are stuck with the attitude we have. We think it will always stay the same whether it is good or bad because we do not understand how we can change our attitude. What we believe and think is the product of what we have been taught and told by others.
We are taught to hate to ponder hurtful things in our minds and to speak them over and over again. The Bible says the tongue is a pen of a ready writer and the tongue is writing things we say deep into our mind, heart, and spirit. This is why we guard the words we speak and hear and those of our children, to protect our hearts and minds.
God says death and life is in the power of the tongue and we will eat the fruit of our lips. When we understand this spiritual principle, we will understand how important it is to guard what we say and what we hear. We need to guard what we say, how we respond to what others say to us and about us. Many of us think words are nothing, only words and they cannot do any harm. God says words are powerful, this world was made by words and all that is in it is sustained by the power of words.
This world system goes to great lengths to get words into our minds and hearts through songs, movies, and now social media. The enemy knows if the seed of a word or thought is planted in our spirit and that word is nurtured, it will in time grow and the seed of that thought will take root in our heart. This is why we are told to guard our hearts.
When what is planted in our hearts will be spoken from our mouths, unless we intentionally uproot the seeds of those thoughts with the word of God. All seeds reproduce after its own kind. Therefore, those negative thoughts and words we hear and believed are reproduced in our lives. We all have heard stories that started as a lie but when it is said often enough and long enough people’s minds will begin to believe that lie.
This is a spiritual principle that is just as consistent as the principle of gravity. Gravity pulls things to the earth unless a higher principle or power is enacted, such as the principles of lift that are used in flight. Our spoken words are powerful and will have consequences unless we apply a greater law, which is the Word of God.
What we continue to listen to will become rooted in our hearts. What is in our hearts will eventually be spoken from our mouth. If we start speaking negative things we have heard or seen, we will be sending powerful seed bearing words out to create in our future, after its own kind, the negative things we have said. Whether good or bad, seed produces after its own kind.
God used words to create the universe and He used the concept of seed bearing after its own kind for good so that every good thing that He created will continue to regenerate. The enemy knows God’s word and he seeks to pervert the good God has made. Instead of using our words for good, systems are in placed to have us hear and speak negative things so the results would be harmful. Satan has no power or authority over the believer so he tries to get the believer to speak against himself, his life, and his future.
Psalm 45:1B …my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. KJV
Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 57:19 I create the fruit of the lips…
Hebrews11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
The Bible has many examples of faith exhibited by the words people spoke. We see the power of the spoken word and understand it has the ability to create, and by faith these words impact our future. The words we say can change our attitude and if we speak the right words, lining up with God’s words, our attitude will change our perspective. Words can change the feelings we have toward a situation, the way we feel about our future and ourselves.
Our attitude or mindset towards certain people, situations, or things can be changed by what we say and what we choose to let enter our hearts and minds, the things we ponder. We can choose to speak positive things, to think on things that are pure, just, and of a good report. We can choose to listen to the words of hate, anger, and bitterness against people, a race, or culture. This negativity and hate can even be against ourselves if we allow others to influence our thinking, attitude and behavior toward ourselves.
