In this world we operate in darkness but the light of God’s truth is revealed to us through His word. We are to transform and reformat our operating systems, which is the way we live, think and perform to the light of God’s truths. As an act of our “will” and our decision, we must say yes to God’s word, submit to His ways through prayer and asking Him to give us the ability to perform.
We have been trained and programed to operate and live in a world that is governed by ideas such capitalism, socialism and idealism which brings the focus of our lives to our own self-preservation and fortune. We allow these ideas to become the little “g” gods of our world. We are all born into this world system that measures success by survival of the fittest through materialistic gains, intellectual or worldly accomplishments. It has been ingrained into our minds to go after the best life through wealth, academics, fame or fortune to show that we are accomplished and have attained success and recognition.
Jesus brought with Him another kingdom and became our example as to how we should live in this kingdom of God.Though He was the Son of God, yet He learned obedience by the things He suffered. He gave His life that many may live. He humbled Himself to be a servant and to serve those in need andwashed the feet of the one who betrayed Him.
John 12:24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. NIV
From the time a child is born the parents and society are looking for ways to have their children skilled, capable and proficient in their chosen area of expertise. This is to increase their value or ability to obtain worth and benefits and thereby be respected, esteemed and regarded as a person of importance and significance. The foundations of pride and self-centeredness were laid and these traps were set long before we entered this world. It will take the transforming and renewing of our mind and the way we think to a totally different mindset to be successful in the kingdom of God.
This act of the will is an act of repentance, it is changing how and what we think of others, ourselves and our own personal worth. We recognize our inability to perform in our own strength, our helplessness and our need for a Savior. Then we must decide to submit our will to God and ask for His power to obey and perform what we are unable to do on our own.
Whenever a truth is revealed to us, a battle in the mind will follow and whether we accept or reject these truths must be settled by conscientious decision of our will. The battle will be settled and their decision will be displayed by their action, whether they change and follow truth or they reject what was revealed and remaining the same.
God’s ways are so far from mankind’s that often times these revelations of truths seem hard or impossible to obtain. Often people will give up rather than fighting the good fight of faith. Which includes going through the battle though it may difficult and will see it through to the end and thereby becoming a witness that God’s word and love is faithful.
1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed to good confession in the presence of many witnesses. NKJ
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: KJV
Hebrews 11:33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.
The fight of faith is the only fight we are told to have. Many people want to fight their enemies but God told us to love themor fight the devil but he is a defeated foe or fight this fallen world system but Jesus said He has overcome this world. Our battle is to fight for our faith and that is to believe God’s word and His love for us. We must fight off the beliefs and mindset that this world has given, that we are of no value and hold on to who we are in Christ Jesus, children of The Most High-King. We are to hold fast to faith that God’s word is true and He is faithful to perform His word no matter how the circumstances look or what people may say about us even in the face of our own demise.
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering: (for he is faithful that promised;) KJV
The good fight of faith believes the blood of Jesus was payment for our sins. Faith speaks and testifies of the things God has done and values His love for us more than the opinion of the world. A good soldier fights a good fight when he is willing to go into battle for his family or country and is willing to give hislife for their protection and safety and so that they will prevail. We see it continuously in the natural with the dying of good men on the battlefield for their family and country. The good fight of faith will show that same commitment in the spiritual realm for God’s kingdom also.
Though situations and circumstances may appear bad even to the point that our very lives will be overthrown we can stilltrust Him with the outcome. Some battles are won only when one is willing to give their all for the good of the whole, this we have seen this in all the major wars. The good fight of faith believes in the love of God and it looks to the eternal and not just the temporal.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. NJK
