It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. Proverbs 25:2

Life Choices- Cause and Effect – continued

Society tells us education is the way to a better life, but we see educated criminals who are only smarter at getting around the system. We are told to get a good job however, we then see many workers who are unemployed after a lifetime of service. Life experiences try to teach us to be concerned only for ourselves, every man for himself and self-preservation is above all. But God says, His ways are not man’s ways and His thoughts are as high above man’s thoughts, as the heavens are as high above the earth. We are told to forgive others even if they do not ask for it or deserve it. We are told to seek the wellbeing of others and to help those who are in need.

Isaiah 55:8-9 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

There is a universal principle of cause and effect. Some call it Karma but God calls it sowing and reaping. If we know the type of fruit we want then we should plant the type of seed to produce such fruit. If we know what type of life we want to live, whether it be obtaining wealth or showing kindness and love to one another that is the type of corresponding energy we expend to others. Those actions, the seeds sowed toward others, will reap a harvest. This occurs in both the spiritual and physical realm. Those things we want to receive in our future we plant in our present.

Even with our bad choices and mistakes of our past we can change and turn those things around through prayer. God has told us to come to Him and let us reason together. Our sins, though they were red as scarlet, He can turn them white as snow. God will place our sins in the sea of forgetfulness. We do not have to let our past define us because in God we are a new creation. God is more concerned about our future than He is with our past.

Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”

Isaiah 1: 18-19 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.  If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land

Many people will allow their past to imprison them so they are unable to be free to accomplish their purpose and live their future. We see so many children and young minds destroyed through an act or one event, such as being abused, abandonment or even poor choices they make themselves. These are only actions and events that happened but we sometimes allow those actions to define us and determine our worth. They are only events and we all have the same choices which may allow this action to consume us and destroy our purpose. Believing we have no hope is a lie from the pit of hell. The good news is we can choose to accept Christ and become a new creation.

God knew our faults and failures before He created us so He had provided a way of escape through Jesus before the foundation of the world was laid. God knew the lies the enemy would try to use against us to cause us to distrust God and hate ourselves. Therefore, God sent Truth, His Son in flesh so we could be set free. No matter what the situation or circumstances were of our past, we all have a choice concerning our future. Though we may be living in some difficult conditions as the result of others choices for our lives or events, we can choose to make better decisions which, will lead to better and different results.

Isaiah 1: 18-19 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.  If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land

We have seen those who get trapped into lifestyles or habits of poor choices. Because of some tragic event that happened and they continue to relive that event over and over resulting in them making the same choices. Sadly, they never move beyond their past. We have also seen those who have gone through some atrocious events, but learn to forgive and move on to become successful people. Some even tend to have a passion to help others who are victims. We must learn how to forgive ourselves and others to live free from the past.

None of us can choose our families, race, nationality or social placement but we can choose what we do with the hand life have dealt us. We can listen to the enemy’s lie that says it is because of our race, nationality, gender, social or economic status, that we cannot be successful. Or we can choose to operate according to God’s principles and precepts because God has promised to provide a way of escape.

Remember, no matter what situation we currently find ourselves in, there is hope for change. We can make our future different from our past. God has also given the great gift of the Holy Spirit to indwell us and to secure our future but He has left the decision to us. We must choose to do things differently to get different results. Past events can impact our future but we can rise above our past and not allow it to hinder us. We can create new memories, new actions with new outcomes, but it is a choice.

Joshua 24:15b            But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Life Choices- Cause and Effect

Choices- Cause and Effect

In this present life, the circumstances and situations we are in, are the results of the ordinary every day choices we make. Whether it is our choice of what to eat, how we use our time, or how we invest our money, it is reflected in current life conditions. Some people say life is a roll of the dice and some people get a good hand while others do not. This is not true- life is about choices. God tells us that choices are set before us, life and death, cursing and blessing and that we should choose life. We make these choices of life or death by the actions we take; they are a direct reflection of our choices. We may not admit to our choices verbally but we confirm our decisions by the actions we take.

Deuteronomy 30:19    I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; NKJ

Life’s destiny is the sum total of our daily choices. A continued pattern of bad choices will result in an unsuccessful life. We all have made poor choices that resulted in undesirable outcomes and if we continue in those same poor choices, the results will be continued undesirable outcomes. It is only when we change those things that influence our mindset and our decisions that we are able to make better choices and thus better and more desirable outcomes allow success to happen.

We may say, “It is just a song, just a movie, just some word,” not realizing it is these things that train our minds and teach our hearts to desire. It is these very things that feed information to our mind and develop our mentality. They train us to assimilate, embrace information and thereby influence how our decisions are made. Therefore understand how the media and the method or type of communication we hear, see and say will dictate one’s beliefs and ultimately the choices and the direction of one’s life.

God the Creator of our very being has said we were created in His image, in His likeness for His glory. Instead of listening to God we have allowed people, schools, jobs and our very society to define who we are. This pushes us to believe we are less than who we are and allows them to determine what we can or cannot do. The same enemy who tricked Eve is trying to pull the wool over our eyes and have us believe the same lies, to have us focus on nonessentials, the distractions of the world while he plans our demise.

John 12:40 He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them NKJ

God has stated He has given each of us the ability to get wealth; He has given us His creative spirit, gifts and talents. It is our gifts that will make room for us. God is faithful to His word. Everyone has the ability to obtain wealth so that they may establish God’s covenant on the earth. This is true, so why are there so many people living and dying in poverty? What about the young people living on the streets, homeless, possibly on drugs or in a gang? All of these situations are a direct result of someone’s choices and some of those choices have been made for past generations and they still impact this present generation.

Deuteronomy 8:18 And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
